Open Our Eyes Lord

One day, when walking up the road with Cora, in the middle of the road was what appeared to be a blank paper. Upon picking it up and turning it over, it became apparent it is lyrics to a hymn by Paul Baloche entitled, “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” Seeing the neighbor out by the road changing the oil in his girlfriend’s car, Faith asks him, “You didn’t lose a paper with lyrics to a hymn, did you?” His reply was, “No.”
Finding such items in the middle of a back road sparks curiosity as to what the Lord is attempting to convey. In Faith’s case, it’s for her to see the Lord rather than to be looking for conversation from anyone in her neighborhood. God only knows Faith’s heart. She’s one to struggle with guarding her heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.“
This neighborhood seems to contain either unashamed unbelievers or nominal Christians, where true believers are rare to find. Their resistance to hear truth is amazingly powerful! Unless the Lord opens one’s eyes, truth will never enter their soul. This note containing lyrics to the hymn was meant to be found by Faith to help protect her heart from faulty expectations.
We all need to practice humility on a daily basis, otherwise we’re not picking up our cross daily. Pride does heart damage. Being humble makes being offended not possible. Rather than feeling sorry for self, pity gets extended towards were it’s really needed… the spiritually lost souls in need of Christ’s salvation. It’s Jesus’ power and love that saves, so we have nothing to boast about!
